The autumn started as a pretty normal autumn as they usually did pre Covid. It was a delightment for the kids to be able to finally go to school again without masks and be able to see their teachers' faces again. Some of our kids had not even seen the whole face of their teachers before. Activities are up and running again and Rebecka decided that she wanted to pick up gymnastics again. We’ve realized that Covid became quite sad for her due to the fact that we were asked by her coaches, right before we went into lockdown in 2020, if they could train her for competitions. The gymnastics was put on hold for a while for her. A fair amount of our weekends are going to the boys football (soccer) and Rebecka has only had horseback riding once a week. So it is with great joy that she has again gotten back to gymnastics. We have gotten in contact with a family that were deported from Finland to Greece this summer. The parents and the oldest daughter wanted to get baptized in September . Martin brought Kaleb out in the water with him and together they baptized the father in the family. The oldest son managed to get work that day and couldn’t come with the family. The 15 year old son decided that he also wanted to get baptized, and Martin went together with our Afghan colleague to do so some weeks ago. I’ve (Elise) been on two trips this autumn. I went to Sicily, Italy, in September together with the leadership group of YWAM’s Refugee Circle in Europe. We haven’t met in over two years due to Covid. The purpose of meeting was to strategize for the future, pray for and with each other and to reconnect. This trip was especially encouraging for my part as I was asked to take over as a convener for this group a year ago. It’s an absolute privilege to work with this group of wonderful people, where several who are much older than me and have much more experience than I. It’s an absolute privilege to be the convener in this group.
The summer in Greece went to cold autumn in a day, when I went to Krakow, Polen in October. I’ve been in the Central European ACT (Area Circle Team) for several years and 17 of us gathered in Krakow. The work with this gathering started already in June for my part as I organized the gathering. We had a good time together with lots of laughter and good fellowship, prayer and strategizing. Martin continues to work in the city of Athens with several of the guys and I’m working more from home. After being “an event manager” for a few gatherings and conferences, I”ve been asked to do a few more. I”m working on a few in the spring and the largest one, YWAM Frontier Mission, will be held in Uganda in June with approximately 800 people. It is both challenging and interesting to work with people from several cultures. This update was more from my part this time, but we will send out a newsletter in December, where Martin can write more. If you want to receive our newsletter and you are not on the list -send us (Elise) a message.
